Robert L. DeLoach
Robert DeLoach has been with BES, Inc for over 30 years and has amassed over 55 years of engineering experience. Robert is a World War II Veteran, and a graduate of Clemson University with a Baccalaureate degree in Mechanical engineering. Robert has extensive design experience in the field of engineering as a result of 37 years of service holding various positions within the Public Works Department at Parris Island. Robert was awarded with the prestigious Commendation for Meritorious Civilian Service Medal by Major General Hoar, for his invaluable service and dedication to duty. Robert began working with BES after ending his extensive career with MCRD Parris Island.
Throughout his career with BES, he has planned, designed, and renovated enumerable unique building engineering systems for various private and government agencies which include: MCAS Beaufort, MCRD Parris Island, the US Naval Hospital-Beaufort, the USC Beaufort Performing Arts Center, Beaufort County School District, the Beaufort Museum and Arsenal, St. Peter's Catholic Church, and the First African Baptist Church just to mention a few. Because of Robert's innovative designs, BES won South Carolina's conservation Award in 2001 for the energy efficient design of Beaufort High School.
Robert's most prestigious and fulfilling achievement was the honor of being associated with the design for the unique heating and air systems for the exhibition and storage of the "Dead Sea Scrolls" and other artifacts during its tour at the sites of the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center in Mobile, Alabama in 2005 and for the Discovery Place located in Charlotte, North Carolina in 2006. The specifications and designs for these projects were done under the direction of the Israeli Antiquities Authority.
Robert is a native Beaufortonian, and has volunteered his time throughout the years serving the community with the following agencies: the Beaufort Academy - Board of Directors, the Lady's Island Business Professionals Association (LIBPAS) - Board of Directors, his Appointment by the State of South Carolina House of Representatives to serve on the Social Services - Board of Directors, and the Boy Scouts of America as District Commissioner. He is also a Deacon Emeritus for the Beaufort Baptist Church.
Robert has no plans for retirement any time soon; he even says, "For me retirement is a state of mind, and my mind hasn't said retire yet. I like the world of engineering, I like working with the wonderful people at BES, and serving the community I was born and raised."
