The Coliseum is the first hurricane and tornado shelter rated for FEMA 361 guidelines in the country. The Building itself will sustain gusts of 200 miles an hour and will provide shelter for 1,900 people, with short-term capabilities of 5,000 people. The arena is over 70,000 square feet and is designed for 140 mph wind gusts. This facility is designed for both public functions and as emergency response center during natural disasters.
